The star is celebrating her 'happy ending' after finding love, moving to New York and getting married - and now she and husband Jason Carrion are expecting their first baby together

Roxanne Pallett has completely transformed her life after her career came to a screeching halt back in 2018 thanks to Celebrity Big Brother ’s punchgate.

Ostracised from the UK acting industry, the star took time away to reflect and rebuild her life - and now she’s happily married and pregnant with her first child.

The road was definitely not an easy one for the star, but now she’s in a ‘bubble of excitement’ over the next big phase in her life.

So how did she get there?

What happened in the aftermath of Celebrity Big Brother's Punchgate?

After Celebrity Big Brother ’s Punchgate in September 2018, Roxanne lost everything - including her fiance, steelworker Lee Walton.

Despite sticking by her at the time of the incident, by January 2019 they had called it quits.

The incident, in which Roxanne was seen accusing Ryan Thomas of maliciously punching her, was also the most complained about moment of 2018 to Ofcom.

More than 25,000 people complained about the moment and its fallout, with the housemates none the wiser about the truth, and Ryan breaking down over the accusations.

Her work also dried up after an initial run of interviews into what happened, and she was fired from her position as a radio host.

"I'm the most hated girl in Britain now," she told Emma Willis in an excruciating post-Big Brother interview.

As a result, she went into hiding for more than five months to focus on her mental health, before fleeing Manchester as she was heckled and harassed in the street.

Roxanne later admitted that she felt suicidal, and even sent a goodbye note to her family in October 2018, before they stepped in and sent her to therapy in Scotland.

Therapy

In February 2019, Roxanne spoke out for the first time, revealing the stress of what happened had caused her hair to fall out.

She later revealed she was seeking help for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in response to the public’s reaction to her, as well as anxiety and depression.

While support for her was few and far between, the former Emmerdale actress credited Piers Morgan for ‘giving her some home truths’ while still offering some support.

During the course of her treatment, Roxanne found solace and strength in “therapy, travel, Johnny Cash’s music and the Rocky films” as well as finding religion.

She would later tell The Sun : "It might sound crazy to say it but, in the end, God took the wheel. I wasn’t religious before and a lot of people might roll their eyes about it or not understand it."

Speaking to The Mirror amid her baby news, she added: “Therapy… changing my environment, leaving showbiz and eliminating the online world has given me the most peace and progress.”

A new relationship

In August 2019, Roxanne went public with a new boyfriend, Jason Carrion, who she met getting out of a taxi in Brooklyn, New York.

The firefighter was no stranger to the spotlight, having previously appeared on the States version of Married At First Sight.

She quickly moved over there to be with him, and that same month shared a photo of them conquering the famous ‘Rocky’ steps outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The couple were engaged by November 2019, after getting approval of her mum.

"They've had very parallel lives and share an intense connection because of their past struggles,” sources said at the time.

"He's fiercely protective over her and has told friends that she’s the one he’s been searching for all this time."

They were married in January 2020, with Roxanne later celebrating Jason online as “worth every broken step”.

"There’s an old saying that difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations. Well it was worth every broken step that got me here and I thank God every moment that out of everyone in the whole world, I was led to you,” she said.

"You are my safest place and my greatest adventure. Thank you for choosing me."

In June 2021, Roxanne announced that she was pregnant aged 38 with her first child.

In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, the star said: "I now know what ‘happy ever after’ feels like.

“To have such a beautiful life here and be blessed with the most incredible husband and our little baba on the way… my mum’s already knitting for England.

“My husband is driving round at all hours getting me pizza and cookies. We’re in a bubble of excitement.”

“Every­­one I now have around me brings out the best in me,” she added. “It’s true that happiness is the greatest success.

“I’m just very grateful for such a beautiful chapter.”
